Editor's note: When Rebb Zalman first began to teach this niggun during his visits to college campuses in the late 1940s, he noticed that often the students who sang along were merely trying to reproduce the sounds, but clearly had no idea about the "conscious content" behind the sounds. So in order to give them some idea of the meaning and emotion behind the music, Reb Zalman composed [...] English lyrics for it [...] Reb Zalman adds: When I presented these lyrics to the Rebbe, Reb Menachem Mendel [Schneersohn of Lubavitch, 7th Lubavitcher Rebbe, 1902-1994], he agreed that these words fit the feeling of the melody
